Indigenous Designer/Artist, Dbaajmowin Lead, BAcd (Hons.), CPS certified, RSE Framer
Ashley MacDonald is a mixed urban Indigenous designer and artist with SpruceLab from the Cayuga Nation of Six Nations of the Grand River. Specializing in design elements and integrating Indigenous values into design, project planning and review, ensuring meaningful and authentic representation at every stage.
Ashley also leads Dbaajmowin, a program dedicated to developing and coordinating opportunities for Indigenous representation. Driving schematic, technical and co-design processes for outdoor elements, site furnishings and public art ensuring indigenous narratives are central to each project. She works to align opportunities and partnerships with the mission of advancing Indigenous presence in design and public spaces.
Ashley holds an Honour’s degree in Furniture Craft and Design from Sheridan College and a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Problem Solving from the University of Buffalo. She is also a Red Seal Journeyman Framer, further enhancing her expertise in both creative and technical aspects of design.
