Oakville Public Library - New Central Branch, Oakville, ON

This project focuses on restoring and redeveloping a heritage post office in central Oakville, transforming it into a landmark building for the town's "Downtown Cultural Hub." The landscape design emphasizes biodiversity, flood resilience, and community engagement, integrating Indigenous perspectives through Smoke Architecture. As the lead landscape architect, our team is focused on preserving the post office’s heritage, particularly its 1958 International Style, while planning for future views of Sixteen Mile Creek. The landscape will use green stormwater infrastructure to mitigate flooding and support local ecology. Early conceptual discussions have explored the symbolic connection between letters and rivers, underscoring the site's layered history. The project is currently in the schematic design phase.
