Timara Osawamick
Program Coordinator
Timara Osawamick is Ojibwe, spirit name is Anangoo-kwe (Star Woman), Makwa doodem (Bear clan), from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory and was raised in Toronto, Ontario. Her work is grounded in Indigenous landbased practices, environmental stewardship, cultural revitalization, and community well-being. Through her participation in the Earth Tending program, Timara deepened her relationship with Indigenous land-based work, permaculture, and reciprocal approaches to caring for the land. The program provided opportunities for hands-on learning, practical training, and strengthened community connection, further supporting her commitment to long-term land stewardship.
Community has played a significant role in Timara’s journey of cultural reconnection and personal growth. Through ceremony, shared teachings, relationship-building, and land-based learning, she continues to deepen her connection to culture and strengthen her ties to community. These experiences have shaped her understanding that caring for one another and caring for the land are deeply interconnected, each supporting the well-being of present and future generations.
Timara’s permaculture practice is grounded in Indigenous approaches to land stewardship and sustainable living. Alongside her land-based practice, Timara contributes as a community-focused artist through sewing, cooking, and engagement with traditional teachings. Through food, art, ceremony, and shared learning, she creates opportunities to strengthen relationships, share knowledge, and support collective well-being. Her work brings together land, culture, creativity, and community in ways that honour Indigenous knowledge and nurture collaborative relationships for generations to come.
