Bolton Camp Discovery Garden

The Bolton Camp Discovery Garden is one of 7 potential healing gardens locations investigated by Sheila’s Ryerson School of Urban and Regional Planning students. The project was an opportunity to develop guidance materials to support the broader initiative, including fold-out guides for pollinator plants and tree medicine (informed by Diana Beresford-Kroeger’s books). The garden concept plan was designed by the Nikibii Dawadinna Giigwag and the Girls Can Too youth, at a day-long workshop that commenced with educational and informative talks.

Working closely with Toronto and Regional Conservation Authority (TRCA) staff who supported the initiative, a design workshop was planned and hosted by Sheila while with Emmons and Olivier Associates Inc. Wei developed the handbook and guides, and finalized the concept with information /advice from Sheila (then Senior Landscape Architect, TRCA).
