Arbo Phase II Neighbourhood Planning and Design, Downsview, Toronto, ON

SpruceLab is working alongside Public Work to support Urban Strategies in providing Indigenous Design and engagement support. This project is a new neighbourhood situated at the edge of Downsview Park. Formerly known as William Baker, this neighbourhood will be reimagined to support community needs while preserving historic nature like the woodlot trees.

Arbo is one of five neighbourhoods located around Downsview Park. Covering about 62 acres (25 hectares), it sits between Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West. At the center of the new community is an established woodlot, which is home to a rare species of tree called Bitternut Hickory. The neighbourhood will offer new housing along with a variety of other uses designed to support both future residents and the existing surrounding community.
